an exploration
of the arts
Writing is like photography. Both have steps and processes that need to be performed in order to have a wonderful piece of art. In photography one has to make sure the aperture, f-stop, focus, and zoom are correct in order to create a captivating picture. In a similar way, with language, one has to gather their thoughts, go through the process of planning, first drafts, and revising in order to create an essay with meaning. Writing and photography both have a way to inspire people to look beyond what is directly in front of their eyes. With a picture, a photographer has the ability to capture a moment or a beautiful scene and give others the opportunity to see it for themselves instead of missing out on extraordinary moment of time, while writing can completely transform a reader's thoughts and opinions. Language has the ability to take one back in time and explain a situation that no other person could have. It has the ability to recreate scenes, make up fictional beings, and imagine different dimensions within space. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words but a piece of writing also the capability to illustrate what is within a photograph.
Photography is very important to me for it is my outlet just as writing may be for someone else. As my photography developed I was able to also develop my writing skills with the help of AP Language. The journey I embarked on as not only a photographer but also a writer has contributed to who I am today.
